Junior Jackets (Middle School) FAQs

Tryout-prep are less than a week away! Here are the must-knows for the upcoming season:

1. Who can participate in the Junior Jackets Program?

The Junior Jackets is a middle school program open to all 5-8th graders. We work as a feeder program to train players in the art of volleyball, inspire future athletes, and continue to keep Cobb County's Varsity and JV programs strong.

2. When are tryouts?

Each year, we will have pre-tryout clinics which are to prepare athletes for the new season. This can be used as a training session for new athletes or an advancement session for returning ones. We offer these clinics free of charge during High School Tryouts.

Official Junior Jacket Tryouts for 2021 are August 3-5th from 6-8 pm. You do need to register for both the pre-season clinics and the official season tryouts online at sprayberryvolleyball.com.

3. Does my middle school player need a physical to tryout?

No, we do not require physicals for our Junior Jackets program to participate in the season.

4. How can my athlete prepare for tryouts?

a) Come to the season kickoff clinic May 10-14th from 6-8pm.

b) Attend open gym sessions throughout summer. In June, these sessions run every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7pm.

c) Volleyball clubs such as Cobb Atlanta, A5, and Phoenix Rising often host clinics and camps for pre-season throughout Spring and Summer. Check out their websites for more information.

d) Visit our own Coach Kat's youtube page for practice sessions you can do at home: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP0R0XhKqkvRnkOdrpCKomw

5. When are practice times?

Practices will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-8pm. Thursday practices may me moved to Fridays when there is a schedule conflict (i.e. JV has a home game). Games will be every Wednesday.

6. Will there be summer camps?

Yes! We are bringing back our annual Junior Jacket summer camp open to all 5th-8th grade athletes. This camp is tentatively set for July 12-16th from 1-5pm. More information coming soon!

7. How much should I expect to spend in player fees?

Fees fluctuate slightly each year due to tournaments we enter, new program maintenance that arises, and updated player packs. For reference only, our estimated fees this year are $370. Final fees will be communicated at the mandatory parent meeting August 6th following tryouts.

8. How can I help?

We will gladly accept help in the form of volunteer time, donations, fundraising, etc. At the preseason meeting August 6th, parents will be able to run for booster club officer positions, volunteer for team positions, and learn about our fundraising goals for the season.
