Missed Our Meeting? Here are our program updates!

Hello Yellow Jacket Family,

Today we had a meeting to check back in with our volleyball families about our current situation with COVID-19. Here is what you missed:

1. This Year's Coaches

Varsity Co-Coaches:

  • Coach Letitia Moorehead

  • Coach Chris Shields

Junior Varsity:

  • Coach Jessica Smith

Junior Program (Middle School):

  • Coach John White

  • Coach Kat Maciejewski

  • Coach Kristina Shannon

2. Our Current Plan of Action

We are in the same situation as all other schools in Georgia. All of our direction is coming from the Georgia Department of Heath and Human Services, funneled through all levels of our school system until the information finally reaches our program. Therefore, what we know is most likely what you already know. Our 2020 Tryouts have been postponed until further notice. But that's not all we have covered in the meeting...

3. Communication

Communication is extremely important for a successful program. So, here is how to stay connected with us!

Join us on remind by texting @SprayberVB to the number 81010

Fill out the following important communication form! This will give us an up to date record of how to reach you whether you have been in the program before or are interested in joining!

And, if desired, follow Coach Kat (Junior Program) for volleyball drills and other fun interactions on Instagram: @TheCoachingWorld

4. Going Virtual

Now that the virus has made it impossible for us to all meet in person, we have discussed some virtual ways of both staying in touch and keeping the girls active. We are looking into creating Virtual Zoom Sessions that will provide At Home Drills and Instruction for the players to get some touches in at home. Here's a poll to see what your time preference would be:

Below is additional info about what these sessions entail:

  • Drills that one can do at home

  • Recommend a volleyball (but we have non-volleyball options)

  • Will have separate high school and middle school sessions

  • Recommend a target (Wall, person, or basket)

  • Focuses on ball control the first couple of sessions

  • Works up to position work

  • Involves elements of competition (so the more players, the better!)

5. The Junior Program

Junior Jackets Updates:

Our tryouts were already in August so this virus does not affect us much except for taking away our time during summer to prepare for tryouts. We will work towards having our "Back in the Swing" Tryout Prep as soon as we can. Again, we are going to work to have virtual practice sessions so check that out above!

We are also working towards expanding our Junior Program and have new full Sprayberry Volleyball events we are looking to put into effect, so stay tuned for more info!

We hope everyone is staying safe and active. Talk to everyone soon! If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to one of the program coaches through email or to me (Coach Kat) on Remind. Have a wonderful week!
